Sun Tzu said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles. Being familiar with the things misogynists say is valuable when it comes to recognizing patterns and cutting straight through the bullshit when faced with misogyny in real life. Men have been saying the same things about women for millennia, whether they are kings or beggars, whether they speak of queens or prostitutes.
Men of all cultures have consistently reduced women to a body, a body that exists to serve men with sex/childbearing, identified with evil/animals, inferior, dehumanized. This is only a tiny selection of the ocean of misogynist quotes that is out there, but they represent entire cultures and ideologies. When you read them, you are reading the reason for millions of rapes and murders. Words matter, and these men mattered, or else I couldn’t be quoting them here.
Can’t live with them, or without them.
–Aristophanes, Lysistrata, 411 BC
“Nature intended women to be our slaves. … They are our property, we are not theirs. … What a mad idea to demand equality for women! … Women are nothing but machines for producing children.”
“All the pursuits of men are the pursuits of women also. But in all of them a woman is inferior to a man.”
“Woman is a vulgar animal from whom man has created an excessively beautiful ideal.”
“Husband–One who has several small mouths to feed and one big mouth to listen to. Wife–A slave who demands to be set on a throne.”
“When a woman becomes a scholar there is usually something wrong with her sexual organs.”
“Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly, and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, ‘Where is that marvelous ape?'”
Uncle Charlie: The cities are full of women, middle-aged widows, husbands dead, husbands who’ve spent their lives making fortunes, working and working. And then they die and leave their money to their wives, their silly wives. And what do the wives do, these useless women? You see them in the hotels, the best hotels, every day by the thousands. Drinking the money, eating the money, losing the money at bridge. Playing all day and all night. Smelling of money. Proud of their jewelry but of nothing else. Horrible. Faded, fat, greedy women.
Charlie (his niece): They’re alive. They’re human beings!
Uncle Charlie: Are they? Are they, Charlie? Are they human or are they fat, wheezing animals? Hmmm? And what happens to animals when they get too fat and too old?
“Women exist in the main solely for the propagation of the species.”
“The mind of woman is easily misled. She yields to her desires and surrenders to jealousy more easily than a man. Therefore it is difficult for a woman to follow the Noble Path.”
“Down from the waist they are centaurs,
Though women all above;
But to the girdle do the gods inherit,
Beneath is all the fiends’: there’s hell, there’s darkness,
There is the sulphurous pit, burning, scalding,
“Good heavens! I’m sorry I just looked up at Madeleine Albright and she’s … No, normally it burns our eyes out … and look at the neck skin on her … does she kind of look like a turkey? …. Look at her eyes and her nose. She looks like a turkey.”
“Women who do not respect the hijab and their husbands deserve to die … These women and their husbands and their fathers must die.”
“The souls of women are so small, that some believe they’ve none at all.”
“I like women, especially beautiful ones. If they have a good face and figure, I would much prefer to watch them being murdered than an ugly girl or man. I certainly don`t have to justify myself to anyone about this. I don`t care what anyone thinks or reads into it. I have often had journalists walk out of interviews when I say what I feel about this subject.”

No, no, no this comes to your Four Seasons hotel room and does it right. There’s nobody that’s going to look at her and say oh my gosh you’re with a whore …”
-Glenn Beck about Sen. Mary Landrieu

“And all women ain’t SHIT/
Only good for cooking cleaning and sucking dick- And that’s it”
–Bizarre, D12, I Shit On You
“Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them in beds apart, and beat them.”

–Clement of Alexandria, 2nd century theologian
”And do you not know that you are (each) an Eve? The sentence of God on this sex of yours lives in this age: the guilt must of necessity live too. You are the devil’s gateway: you are the unsealer of that (forbidden) tree: you are the first deserter of the divine law: you are she who persuaded him whom the devil was not valiant enough to attack. You destroyed so easily God’s image, man. On account of your desert— that is, death— even the Son of God had to die. And do you think about adorning yourself over and above your tunics of skins?”
–Tertullian, Father of Latin Christianity
“God maintained the order of each sex by dividing the business of life into two parts, and assigned the more necessary and beneficial aspects to the man and the less important, inferior matter to the woman.”
–Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople and Doctor of the Church
“Woman is the root of all evil.”
